Ambient ASF-1 MKII

The Ambient ASF-1 MKII "Sound Fish" is a professional omnidirectional hydrophone, a microphone made to record sound underwater. It captures what you can't hear from the surface: waves and currents, rain hitting a lake, ice cracking, boat engines, shrimp and fish, or a swimmer passing by.

Sound designers, documentary and nature crews, artists and researchers use it to build underwater ambiences, Foley and unusual textures. Its very wide frequency range reaches well above human hearing, which leaves room for pitch-shifting and sound design work.

The hydrophone has a built-in low-noise preamp and runs on standard 48V phantom power, so it plugs into a field recorder or mixer like any condenser microphone. The rugged, sealed body is rated down to 100 m and is connected through a detachable underwater cable, so you can lower it from a dock, a boat or the shore.
