RØDE PodMic

The RØDE PodMic is a broadcast-style dynamic microphone made for podcasting, livestreaming, interviews and other spoken-word work. It gives a rich, full voice in the classic radio style, and its all-metal body with a stainless steel mesh grille is built to last.

Its tight cardioid pattern picks up the voice in front of it and rejects much of the room, which is a big advantage in untreated spaces such as offices, meeting rooms and home studios. An internal pop filter tames plosives, an internal shock mount reduces handling and desk noise, and the built-in swing mount makes it easy to place on a desk stand or a boom arm.

The PodMic connects with a standard XLR cable and, being a dynamic mic, needs no phantom power. Like most broadcast dynamics, it likes a preamp with plenty of clean gain, so pair it with a podcast mixer or a good interface. Rent a few in Montréal to set up a multi-guest podcast or a panel in no time.
