Sennheiser EK 2000 IEM-AW+
The Sennheiser EK 2000 IEM is a stereo bodypack receiver for in-ear monitoring, from Sennheiser's 2000 Series. This unit works in the AW+ band, 470 to 558 MHz, and receives the mix from an SR 2000 IEM or SR 2050 IEM transmitter.
It uses adaptive diversity: the earphone cable acts as a second antenna, so the signal stays steady as the performer moves around the stage. Sennheiser's HDX compander keeps the mix clean and quiet. In stereo mode you hear the full stereo mix; in Focus mode the transmitter sends two mono signals, and the balance control lets each musician set their own blend, for example more of their instrument and less of the band. An adjustable limiter protects the ears, and a High Boost setting adds treble for more clarity.
Setup is quick: a scan finds free channels, and infrared sync sends the settings to the transmitter. Any in-ear earphones with a 3.5 mm plug will work. Light and solid, the EK 2000 IEM fits on a belt for concerts, worship, theatre and broadcast. Rent it in Montréal to give a performer their own clean monitor mix.
