Sony MDR 7506

The Sony MDR-7506 is a closed-back, over-ear studio headphone and a long-time standard for monitoring on film sets, in broadcast trucks, radio stations and recording studios. Many sound recordists and editors have used one for years, so most crews already know how it sounds.

Its 40 mm drivers give a clear, detailed sound with a bright top end that makes noise, clicks and distortion easy to spot, which is exactly what you want when checking dialogue or a recording. The closed design keeps outside noise out and stops sound leaking into nearby microphones. The headphones fold up to fit in a sound bag, and the coiled cable stretches to about 3 m, so you can move away from the recorder or mixer.
