Lectrosonics SSM (B1: 537.600 to 614.375 MHz)

The Lectrosonics SSM (Super Slight Micro) is a miniature Digital Hybrid Wireless bodypack transmitter, and this unit covers block B1, from 537.600 to 614.375 MHz. It's one of the smallest professional transmitters available, made for productions where the pack has to disappear in a costume or under light clothing.

Despite its size, the SSM gives the same audio performance as Lectrosonics' larger Digital Hybrid transmitters. Its servo bias input takes a lavalier or a line-level signal, with gain set in 1 dB steps and an accurate LED guide on the keypad. A limiter cleanly handles peaks well above full modulation, so a sudden shout won't overload the signal. It tunes in 25 or 100 kHz steps across three standard frequency blocks, and the RF output can be set to 25 or 50 mW.

Compatibility modes let it work with earlier analog Lectrosonics receivers and IFB receivers. It runs on a small rechargeable lithium-ion battery, and two are included with a charger. Rent it in Montréal for film, TV and theatre work where a regular pack is too big. Keep it away from moisture, including sweat.
